Beautiful countryside

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
I went to our office in Bregenzerwald today. The meeting was excellent and on the way back I had plenty of time to enjoy the scenery. Usually when I'm in a hurry I don't see much of the landscape but today I noticed once more what a lovely area Bregenzerwald acutally is. And it's right around the corner. I'm living where others come for vacation but most of the days we just don't appreciate it enough. How come that we take things like that for granted?

And all of this just happend because I read fourth rose's fantastic story "Land der Berge" (land of mountains) last night. This is part of her "Seven day in June"-universe, one of the funniest and most creative fanfics I've come across for quite a while.

The week of hell is officially over as I have taken tomorrow off at work. Otherwise I might have shouted at the first person annoying me tomorrow moring. And there are plenty of potential victimes...
Afer a week the went from bad to abysmal the ice is very thin and I think my colleagues are a lot better off with me staying at home tomorrow.
Things can only get better.

I just wished my mathematical-logical side wasn't so underdevelopped. Well I guess, i can't have both.

Your EQ is 140

50 or less: Thanks for answering honestly. Now get yourself a shrink, quick!
51-70: When it comes to understanding human emotions, you'd have better luck understanding Chinese.
71-90: You've got more emotional intelligence than the average frat boy. Barely.
91-110: You're average. It's easy to predict how you'll react to things. But anyone could have guessed that.
111-130: You usually have it going on emotionally, but roadblocks tend to land you on your butt.
131-150: You are remarkable when it comes to relating with others. Only the biggest losers get under your skin.
150+: Two possibilities - you've either out "Dr. Phil-ed" Dr. Phil... or you're a dirty liar.

Had a good day today. Got up at 6 this morning to go cycling. Pluse was fine, but my legs were rather heavy and the headwind annoyed me to no end - until I turned around and had tailwind. That way I was a lot faster and had more fun!
It still were 2 good hours of cycling. I've done almost 220 kilometres this week. 40 more tormorrow and it will be 250 in a week. For me that is not bad.
Watching the time trial of Tour de France right now, it is of course nothing. I just hope Landis will win.

Had a lovely evening at the open air cinema where I watched "The constant gardener". Lovely film with good actors and great scenery. Of course it also helped that it was a lovely evening - perfect for outdoor movie watching.
I used to travel to places like those shown in the film, which brought back memories. Even more so for my friend who came with me to see the film. She used to live in Africa for a while and after the film she was really emotional. Very strange, usually I am the one crying at the end of the film.
Unfortunately she was so overwelmed that she couldn't find her ticket after the film. Too bad, she would have won the raffle... not that she did care.

I better go to bed now. I want to get up early tomorrow for another bike tour. I did about 155 kilometers already this week and I'm pretty proud about that. Let's see if I can get up to 250 by the end of this week.

My world cup

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
I better start training right away .. the quarterfinals are not good enough!

QUARTER-FINALS
You achieved 73% Cup success!

The bitterness of disappointment. It’s no disgrace to be eliminated at this stage of the knock-out phase. You may have been the surprise package or the underdog that had already given the opposition a good run for their money and surprised many during the tournament. But in the end, you’ve pitted yourself against an opponent that is just too much stronger than you – maybe even the host nation itself? Or perhaps your team was also one of the favourites but was just stopped in its track by an unstoppable side that turned out to be the eventual winners of the tournament.

Both these cases applied to the England side, when they were knocked out by eventual winners Brazil in World Cup 2002 and eliminated by host nation Portugal in Euro 2004.

Anyway, you can bow out of the tournament with your heads held high. Grit, determination and finesse can only get you thus far. Maybe a bit more luck or tactical cunning would have seen you progress further. Take comfort though – many other great sides can’t clear this hurdle either......

Holiday time

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Life is wonderful. There is almost all of my 3 week vacation left and I am having a great time. Had a vacation celebration in town on Friday, which coincided with the annual wine festival (too bad...) and went to a party on Sunday.
And I'm so pround that I did 3 bike tours already. On Saturday I did 45 km, on Monday 65 and today 56. Watching Tour de France on TV is a great motivation even though it makes me realize even more how bad I am, but it cycing is so much fun. As a little reward I bought two new cycling jerseys in the sale yesterday and some really nice cycling glasses today. I am already planning tomorrow's tour... I just hope the weather stays so nice.

time for vacation

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Two more days and it's vacation time. And it is about time. You know those little mistakes you tend to make when overworked? Like throwing out the bread when the kneading hook of the bread beaking machine is still in. Now that will be fun to search for in the compost.
It is about time that my vacation starts NOW!!!

Maybe this will be fun.
